• Just started dating? In this case try not to go overboard with calls, texts or instant messaging. Of course you will be tempted to do this because everything is so new but it gets old pretty quickly. Both men and ladies will enjoy hearing from their new love interest but both of you still have a life so constant interruptions will kill a new relationship before it gets off the ground.
  
  
• Been dating awhile? By now you know a little more about each others schedule. It is definitely ok to leave a message just to say "have a great day" or "I'd love to see you tonight after work for dinner" but still, show some restraint and do not freak out if you do not receive a reply instantaneously. They may be in a meeting or in the middle of some task so practice patience.
  
  
• In a committed relationship? In this case you must check in regularly, especially if you two have plans and there is some change. If you want to send your sweetie a cute text during their day go ahead but keep it clean and simple. Do not use calls and texting to excess or you will just frustrate your partner.
  
  
• If you said you would call, do it. There is no room for negotiation here. It is just plain rude to tell someone you will call and then not do so. It does not matter if you have just started dating or are in a committed relationship.
